CHELSEA’S GOAL PROBLEMS INVESTIGATED
It is obvious fact that Chelsea’s progress this season has been
greatly hindered by a perceived goal scoring problem despite landing themselves
hopes of a top-four finish.
Antonio Conte admitted to now having clarity on what Chelsea’s
major problem this season has been. He pointed a finger at his many attackers
after the narrow win at Swansea last week and while January’s signing Olivier
Giroud made the difference against Liverpool on Sunday. Our sources believe
Conte must surely have been enviously looking on at the visitor’s front three.
Especially because although they drew a blank at Stamford Bridge,
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have 56 premier League goals this
season. It might interest you to know that Chelsea’s top three scorers; Eden
Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso have summed goals of just 29. If only
that figure was significantly higher, and if only Chelsea could regain all her
lost chances to score this season, then Chelsea would not be third bottom in
the premier league.
But many believe Crystal Palace and Southampton have been more
wasteful with chances where a reasonable expectation to score was met with
immense disappointment.
Morata had the worst big opportunity among strikers to have scored
at least 10 premier league goals this season. Well, that was before he was out
injured against Liverpool but luckily, he is likely to return against
Huddersfield on Wednesday.
Certainly, the stats don’t make good reading for Chelsea’s
attackers. We would love to know your thoughts in the comment section.
